Deck the Halls

Here are pictures of our trees this year. The first picture is of the living room tree. This is my "flower arrangement" as the family fondly calls it. I also put out my Santa collection every year and here are a couple of them on the mantle.
The second picture is our family room tree. This tree has colored lights and all of our "memory" ornaments. This tree the whole family puts up while watching Christmas movie and eating cookies.

For more pretty trees, check out Creating Christmas Blog Fest.

Jaxon Word book and card

Had a lot of fun making these for the baby shower...

I found a great tutorial at The Craftiblog for the tri-shutter card. I used Sizziz Texture Boutique Embosser, Stickles, baby stickers embellishments that I had in my folders and a part of the baby shower invite. The mommy-to-be loved it!The word book was made using SCAL and Cricut Expressions. I welded a rectangle from the spaces block along with ea letter in the baby's name. I also embellished it with stickers, journaling, Stickles, ribbons and vellum.
I did get a great surprise at the shower. My gift had the "blue dot" on it, so I got the door prize!!!

Diaper Cakes

Here is something I whipped up for a baby shower... A Diaper Cake! This is the second one that I've made, and they are so easy to do.

100 (size 1) disposable diapers
transparent tape
2 bottles or 1 sparkling grape juice bottle
3 large rubber bands

1. roll each diaper starting with the waist band and tape
2. when done rolling, place rubber bands around one bottle
3. start securing diapers to bottle by placing inside of rubber band and up against the bottle
4. go all around the bottle a couple of times (I did 4 rows for the bottom, 3 for the second and 2 for the third)
5. start second layer by placing second rubber band around the bottle and start over attach the next set of diapers
6. if you use sparkling grape juice, just start last tier with 3rd rubber band, however, if you use regular baby bottle, you need to get a second bottle and place on top of first
7. place ribbon around the cake to hide the rubber bands and decorate

For this cake, I used Cri…

My First SVG!!!

I've been playing with Inkscape and Sure Cuts A Lot. And I finally did it, made my first svg from a free clip art file!!!
I made a very simple card to show it off using, paper scraps, glitter glue (red and clear), red stamp ink and green ribbon. I used my new Sizzix Embosser too (check out previous post for info on it).
It came out real cute and then my 2 yr old grabbed it off the table... wet. Oh well, at least I still believe, lol.
You can download it here.

Black Friday Rocks!

I headed out to Michael's this morning and got such great deals!!!! I really wanted an embossing machine, so I was gonna get a Cuttlebug. But then I got to thinking, I don't need a die cutter because I have my Cricut Expressions, I just wanted an embosser. Low and behold, I found the perfect machine and it's so cute too!

Texture Boutique Embossing Machine It's new from Sizzix and very affordable, only $29.99!

I got the Michael's special which included 10 folders. It was $39.99 but with my 25% off coupon, it was $29.99!!! It is very lite weight, so I can take it to crops. The plates are not as bulky as the Cuttlebug or Sizzix Big Shot. It takes little space on my book shelf. And the Cuttlebug folders work with this too, so I'm very excited to start using this!
I also got a new camera, Nikon s302 from Target. So I can now take decent pictures!!!
Hope you got some great deals too!

Gypsy give-a-way

WooHoo!!! The Gypsy Spot is giving away a brand new Gypsy (retail value 299.99). I been reading up on the Gypsy and think I can see one in my future and I don't even need a gypsy's crystal ball... haha, bad
I'm not the type to go out and get the latest items hot off the lines. I like to wait, get a better deal and let other people deal with all the little "bugs" that usually come with new gadgets. So I'm crossing my fingers because I know my husband would be tickled pink if I "won" my gypsy, lol!!!

Cupcake card

Here is my matching card for Candice's word book. (I made hubby look at my photos and now he thinks we should get a new camera...YAAAAAY!)

The font is one from my computer. The cupcake is a svg file that I downloaded. For the life of me, I can't find the original site :( It's too hard to keep track.

Candy Word Book

Here's my first Word Book. I like how it turned out.

It's for my cousin's 18th birthday. She loves pink, black and white, but she's is not to foo-foo with ribbons and such. (sorry the pictures are so bad, Santa is suppose to bing me a new camera)

I used my SCAL program to weld the letters to the "squares". I used chipboard and various scrapbook papers ie. velum, glitter, embossed. It made such a big difference using textured papers.
I you have SCAL or DS, you have to try at least one word book!!!!

Black Friday Cricut deals!!!! Cricut Expressions $188!!!!

Walmart has $30 carts and an Cricut Expressions machine for $188 in black, red, blue and green colors

Michael's is having Cricut Cartridges 60% off!!!!

Love, Love, Love!!!! Sure Cuts A Lot. If you have a Cricut, you NEED this program!!! LOVE IT!!! Check it out! I have sooo many files already and using it in conjunction with my cartridges.

But I have another site that I love to go. The Master List of Cricut Video Tutorials is a great resource site!!!
I am such a visual gal and You Tube is my best friend...not really, Jen is, but you get the picture. This site has boat loads in one place for me to just pour over while hubby is bugging me to get on the computer, lol. I did hear music to my ears the other day when hubby said I needed a laptop just so he could use the computer again!!!!!

Emmy's Hat

I just HAD to show Emily's hat. She was a clown for Halloween, but I couldn't find a wig to fit her. So I got to brainstorming..."Oh Cricut!!!" (in my sing song voice of course, lol). Why not make her a little cone hat!?!?! The best part is her big sister got to help Mama put all the cute little dots on it too!

Cricut to the rescue. I need a little picture of my Cricut with a cape, lol!!!

Christmas mini brag book

I found this idea at Above Rubies Studio. Megan's video is so easy to follow and this project took me no time to do. Here are the directions: Christmas mini brag book.
I added the ribbon at the top by punching a hole in the middle three pages so the book can hang on the tree.
My book is mad from red card stock, and I choose the dove from the Beyond Birthday's cartridge using white card stock. I cut out two and layered them using a pop dot to raise the second dove up a bit. I then used a swirly from the Essential Accents cartridge and cut in half to make the wings. I colored the wings with my silver ink pad. I made one for each year and put pictures in it of the kiddos opening up presents Christmas morning for that year.
This was a fun project to do! Thanks Megan!

Harvest pumpkins

I'm in my Fall Harvest mode now!!! Can't wait for Thanksgiving.

One of the decorations that I have are cloth pumpkins. I have been making them for about 13 yrs now and though I would show you a couple.

My Sam made the orange one on the end at church. His teacher is my sister, and I passed on my pumpkin knowledge, lol.
They are very easy to make. All you need is a scrap of fabric ( I look in the scrap bin at the fabric store), a roll of toilet paper, batting, paper bag, jute and fake leaves. Hot glue gun and pins.
Place the TP in the center of the fabric. Wrap the TP in batting to get the thickness you want. Gather the fabric and pleat up over the TP and tuck into top hole of TP. Do that all the way around. You can pin the fabric to the batting/TP at the top if you want.
Cut a strip from the bottom of the paper bag, about 4 inches wide and roll to make the stem. Start at the top of the "stem" using hot glue to hold the jute on the bag. Next wrap the jute around t…

I love my Cricut!!!

I just love the Cricut Expressions. It is so user friendly even my mom can do it, lol! She asked me to help her make some signs for the church apple pie sale. I "had" to do some paper piecing on mine, lol. Here's what she came up with.
She's "hiding", lol.

My first birthday card

I'm really proud of my first birthday card. It is very simple because the friend I made it for is the no frills kind of girl. She loved it so much, she framed it which was flattering for me.
I used the Plantin Schoolbook and Beyond Birthday cartridges. The paper is olive green, cream and a nice deep red. I used a pop up dot for the present in the middle. I did cheat with the brown "frame". It came from a fall sticker kit.

Hope you like it!

This year's Halloween gift ideas

Here are some of the projects I did for Halloween...
The gift bag was made using the cut from Accent Essentials Cartridge and end caps feature for the handle from PlantinSchoolBook cartridge.
The banners were made using the PlantinSchoolBook cartridge, and ribbon. I punched two holes in each card and threaded the ribbon through the back. The pumpkins are 5 ovals cut to 3" and layered over lapping. I drew the faces on with a black sharpie marker.
I just had to show these pumpkins off. I made these for my hubby when we were dating for his apartment. I bought the ceramic from the local ceramic shop. And using my scrap book chalks, I "colored" the piece and then used a couple coats of craft sealant to give it a nice gloss. Very easy to do!

I made this door banner for a friend who loooves Halloween. This was very easy to make. I used three different kinds of paper. The first layer (brown outline) I cut at 3.75", second layer at 3.50". The third layer was a l…
