Perfect Spinning Pinwheels

2

Hi friends,
Sandy here from Scrapbook Blessings.  This is my first post at She's a Sassy Lady, and I am very excited.  This is the first blog that I followed when I got my Cricut and Gypsy wayyyy back when.  I just love all the tutorials and inspiration, and now I can something with you too!  Talk about coming full circle.  Thanks Shelia for letting me be a part of your team of wonderful crafters!

Since today is my first post AND my birthday (late 30 something, lol),  I wanted to share a fast and easy project that I do with my kiddos and for parties... A very cool SPINNING Pinwheel done for you step by step.

  • Items needed: 12x12- double sided pattern paper, scissors, paper piercer, skewers, button, 2 small plastic beads, and floral/jewelry wire

  • Measure and cute paper into 4 pieces of 6x6

  • Score corner to corner (back side of paper to show score lines better)

  • Crease and fold, making sure all score lines are going the same way (this is what helps with the spinning)

  • Cut on each score line 3/4 of the way

  • Now prep your handle by grabbing the skewer and floral wire, and cutting off about 4", wrapping one end around the stick

  •  Back to the paper, fold a corner point into the middle like below

  • Fold every other corner in to the middle to create the wheel

  • When you have every other point meeting in the middle, used your paper piercer and make a hole in the middle of the pinwheel. Keep it on the piercer to hold in place

  • Going back to the skewer, 1) place one of the pearl beads on the wire for the back

  • 2) next comes the paper
  • 3) the other bead for the front

  • 4) the button comes on last

  • The hardest part for me is getting the wire through the other whole of the button and tight enough (I have to do this part for the kiddos too, but it can be done!). Then I wrap the wire behind the button to keep it on.

  • Almost done!  Now for the finishing touch, a little tag for the stick.  I used a scallop circle tag (a cut using the Cricut) and tied on with some ribbon.

  • My ribbon secret..... Tie it Upside Down on the skewer!

  • You will get your tails to point down if you do!

So I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on making a Spinning Pinwheel! Perfect for the kiddos at any party!

(FYI: Cricut Craft Room has a special exclusive- 3D Pinwheels!  It is a set of 5 different pinwheels digital cuts that you can use with your machine. You can find them HERE)

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,

Card Creating Tuesday

3

Card Creating Tuesday: Christmas Cards with the Cricut

So today it is Christmas cards!!! I decided to use images from Create a Critter 2 for my card. So let's begin...

  • I decided to use this cute present for the card cut at 5".
  • The base is white card stock and is 4x7.  It is cut to fit right behind the image.  This is the perfect way to make a card shape card if you are not using the Gypse or Cricut Craft Rooom.

  • The other embellishments for the card are cut next using same paper.
  • Joy is cut at 1.25"
  • Tag for inside the card is cut at 2"

  • And here is the card all put together.

Hope this puts you in a jolly festive mood :)

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,

Festive Friday @ My Cricut Craft Room

5

Hi friends,
For today, we were asked to do a summer layout for Festive Friday.  For my project, I just used one card that has great summer images...Life's a Beach

  • I started out with the flip flop and water pattern papers as my inspiration.
  • The large flip flops were cut at 4"
  • The flowers were cut at 1.5"
  • Mini flip flops are actually the border but I cut them apart and cut them at 1.5" also
  • The lifeguard stand and phrase are cut at 5" but I trim them down to fit my page as needed.

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,

Summer Party Hop

10
Hi friends, Sandy here and today I am doing a fun blog hop... Summer Parties. If you just popped by, you can start at the beginning with Shannon.

For me and my family, that means birthday parties.  We have 5 different ones of the summer. I wanted to share with you one of my favorites...  A Tangled b-day party that I did for my 6 year old. She kicks off the summer parties.  DIY parties are the best and believe me, everyone notices the details... well, at least the women do, lol.

Using my best pal... Cricut, I was able to make a couple cute banners...

Here some"lanterns" and tower (you just have to watch the movie)...

Of course a party wouldn't be complete without the cake ( made by a very good friend)...

And don't forget the presents and fun games...

(these are little orange boats on the skillets) relay races

 summer party = water fun

ending the night with a sleep over, mommy playing Barbies...

 doing our nails...

and making a cute card project...

Hope you had fun at our party!  You can hop over to see Christine now.

Full line up

Theme Day Thursday- Sewing

Today the design team was challenged to make projects with a sewing theme. I used cartridges for this card, EVERYDAY POP UP CARDS and PAISLEY.

  • Sentiment: Everyday Pop Up Cards cut @ 2", including layer font using shift key
  • Buttons: Paisley cartridge cut @ 3/4" using button key
  • Peach, yellow and black cards stock used along with pale yellow and peach pattern paper
  • Peach and white baker's twine used for buttons

  • Sewing machine pop up is on Everyday Pop Up Cards, cut @ 3"
Hope you like this card.  I never used these colors before and it was a little out of the box for me.  My mom just had knee surgery so she took this card to give to her surgeon, lol. Bet he never go a card like this one!
