Fridge Magnet Project

Hi Friends,
Sandy here with another post for She's a Sassy Lady.  Today I am going to show nice project that I made for my sister. Her and the family are leaving for Africa in 4 days for two years. She will work as a teacher/missionary.  So...yeah, I'm a little emotional right now.

She asked me to make some thank you cards to give to those that support Martin's 4 Africa.  But, I got to thinking, thank you cards are nice and all, but I wanted something that people can see everyday.  And when they do, they might be reminded to say a little prayer for her, Joe and the kiddos.  I came up with refrigerator magnets. It is something that people will see when they head to the fridge. She loved that idea and even helped me make them.  We spent the night, laughing, remembering and just enjoying each others company.

So let's get started...
You will need:
  • 3x3 chipboard square ( I got a poster board sheet of chipboard at the craft store, we made 50 of these from that sheet)
  • Mod Podge
  • 1 piece of 3x3 cardstock
  • 1 piece of 3x3 Pattern Paper
  • Adhesive
  • Nail File
  • Distress Ink Pad
  • Embellishments- punches, stamps, die cuts, etc.
  • Magnet strips (can get in a roll or on a sheet at the craft store)
Here are the magnets that I made for my sis ...
  • The Africa shape is just a clip art that I downloaded and printed from the computer.
  • First, Adhere the card stock and pattern paper to the front and back (great way to use up scraps) on the chipboard square
  • File the edges, this will help the paper stay on the chip board.
  • The heart is from Cricut Craft Room Basics, cut @ .5" and the sandals are from Life's a Beach and cut at 1".
  • I wrote the sentiments on the front with a calligraphy pen and ink the edges and sides with the distress ink,
  • After you decorate the front of your chipboard, do the back if you would like
  •  You are going to Mod Podge with a couple of coats (we did 3-4 coats and it is well worth the extra time).
  • The Sandals represent the money (over $2000 that the kiddos raised for Shoes 4 Africa)
  • The heart is over Ethiopia, where they will be
  • Their Faith, Hope and Love is what has gotten them this far in this calling on their lives.
This is the back.
As you can see, I decorated that back with this cute sentiment stamp. And using my Just Right 15pt. font set, I was able to sign them Martins 4 Africa.
Everyone was amazed that these are chipboard/paper and not wood.  With the Mod Podge texture and the extra coats, they are so sturdy and will last for a long time.

I hope you were inspired with this project.  Very easy to do, makes great gifts. Other ideas, are using photos of people or places that you have been, making personalized magnets to hold the kiddos school projects or even a to-do/shopping list.

ps: here are the "thank you" that I did previously for my sis. I used Life's a Beach and welded the letters together.  I attached with a brad to swing the top sandal over.

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,

Hurray for Red, White and Blue

Hi friends, glad you made it this far for our Red, White and Blue hop.  You should have hopped of from AJ's blog but if you didn't, you can start at Connie's

I think it being July, everyone has done patriotic projects and I am no exception. I did a spinning pinwheel tutorial not to long ago, you can find it HERE.  So I decided to make some for the holiday.

  • For the life of me, I could not find any 12x12  red, white and blue paper in my stash so I made my own. I started with my inks and a white piece of cardstock
  • I just dragged the pads in different places. This is the back of the paper.

  •  Taking a stamp set, I started with my biggest stamp and worked down, filling the paper up.

  •  I then went to the small star stamps to fill it in and here is my finally paper. Very easy to do.

  •  Then I started on my pinwheels. You can find the how to do HERE.

  •  Here is the little tag that I did to go along with them.

  • Here is a picture of the centerpiece. I am missing a couple, the kiddos nabbed them before I could take a picture. Hope it inspired you.

Also, I have a little goodie bag from my stash to give away. Just leave a comment on this post, and if you are a follower let me know.  I will put you in twice. Thanks for hopping with me :)

Patriotic blog hop

Welcome to the July 13th Patriotic Blog Hop hosted by www.thecricutchirp.com You should have came from Katie's .  If you’re just joining the hop, make sure to start back at the beginning at the Cricut Chirp. We hope that you enjoy hopping along with us as much as we enjoyed putting our projects together for you.

For my project, I did this great card using Stand Up and Salute cartridge.

It is a simple one layer card. For the country image, I also used a background shadow that I cut just a little larger than the blue one.  The frame is just doodled out. Add some ribbon and God Bless the USA, Land of the Free ( no matter what some are trying to do!)

I will be giving a little goodie bag to someone who leaves a comment on this post. If you are a follower, let me know and I will give you a second chance to win. Thanks!  USA ROCKS!!!!

Hope this inspires you. Here is the line up...

Cow Appreciation Day - Go out and give a cow a hug, Yellow Pig Day, and Amelia Earhart Day.

I sooo wanted to do a project that incorporated all three of these together. So I decided to go with a girl yellow pig, flying a plane with a cow hugging the plane. Yep, I can be weird like that sometimes, lol. But, alas, I couldn't get my cow to cooperate so this was plan #2...

My girl pig ( I promise you she is yellow not orange. If you thought she was yellow, than just ignore this). I used Create a Critter 2 for the pig and Everyday Pop Up Cards for my plane and sign. I don't have the sizes because I did this when we first got the days and forgot to write them down, now I can't remember, oops.

And here is my cute cow, I just want to hug and squeeze him... well...not really but I am trying to get into the day, lol. From Create a Critter cart.
"Hugs 2 Moo"....don't you just love it, thought of that all by myself, lol.

Twisted Easel Tutorial

Hi Friends, Sandy here for The Stamping Chef with another easy tutorial for you to feature your great digi stamps.  Easel cards are a great way to do this and really are easy to do.  I thin this will be a Easel Series Tutorial. I guess this would be Easel Part 1.

So lets get started...

  • For basic Easel, Start with 5x10 cardstock and score horizontally at 2.5" and 5" and fold.  You will need another 5x5 piece for your picture base to go on front

  •  Now for your Twisted Easel, same measurements but instead of folding straight across, fold from top left corner down to bottom right.  That's it, so easy!!!!

  •  Here is what it looks like when upright

  •  Now put you adhesive on the bottom triangle

  •  And attach your 5x5 square to the bottom glued triangle

  •  When you start to decorate your card, you are going to fold it in half that way you image is not sideways when you open it

  •  Decorate the front

  •  Decorate the inside

  •  Don't forget to raise your embellishments with pop dots. This is what will make your easel.

  • And here you go!!!!

Some other great twisted easel cards from The Stamping Chef...

Can't wait to see those Twisted Easels!

  •    If you would like to be a Spotlight Guest Designer – send us an email to infothestampingchef@mail.com Simple add Saturday Spotlight Designer in the subject line and we will get you on our calendar!! As a Spotlight Designer you will be able to chose an image from the The Stamping Chef store and share a little about yourself and your creation right here on The Stamping Chef Blog.

  • TWO new releases for you! They are both just gorgeous &  if you buy either of them over the weekend you will get 20% off them….how cool is that! All you have to do is pop over to The Stamping Chef store & purchase as normal!
