Monday's Die Cutting Machine Project

0
Good Monday morning to all, and here it is the last day of March.  Where or where is the month gone to?  Before I share my two projects using my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the items, my TIP is:  if a card that you had created is blah, bling it some more....

I chose two of my past projects that I created using in Silhouette Cameo, and I believe, in this case SCAL software to create the baby dress.  I'm not sure where the cupcake pattern came from so I'm not able to give credit where it's due, my apologizes for that.

First photo is of the baby dress I created and than added more bling to it to update the card.  I added baby pearls (SU Pearls) to the both sleeves, and where the holes are at hem of the dress I took my Wink by Stella pen (Purple) and colored inside the holes.

Supplies used:
  • My own pattern file for the Baby dress card.
  • Ribbon from stash
  • the small pearls in sleeves; and two down the front from Stampin! Up
  • Wink by Stella glitter pen.
Here is the 2nd card I created using my Silhouette Cameo die machine, and a cut file I am not sure where I obtained.  The card was actually created for my great-grandson, but never got sent...I, instead went up to Indiana for his 2nd birthday party.

Supplies used:
  • Silhouette Cameo die cutting machine
  • Number 2 from SCAL font list
  • beads from my own stash
  • blue brad in center of flowers

Saturday homemade home decor item

3
Hello scrappy and crafty friends. Hope you are having a great weekend so far. This is Barbara and I want to share with you today how to make a decor canvas for your home. I will also teach you how to cut your own stencils with your cricut.

My tip for the day: when using stencils, be sure that you do not have very much paint on your sponge. Dab your sponge in the paint then dab it on clean paper to remove much of the paint before you paint through the stencil. I use really inexpensive make up sponges.

Here is the finished project:

My daughter and son in law went to Paris this last fall and I wanted to make them something to remind them of their trip.
  • Recipe
  • a regular canvas from the hobby store
  • acrylic paint
  • make up wedge sponges
  • a die cut if desired
  • stencils
Cricut machine to cut your own stencils if you wish or you can use ready made ones.

First I want to show you how to make your own stencils using your cricut and CCR.
Open CCR and select your shape. I chose a circle.

Next you want to size your shape. Be sure your height and width measurements are linked if you want to get a perfect circle

Next you want to copy your shape by using the tool bar at the top of your screen.

Then you want to paste your copied shape.

do this several times. Then you can use the cursor to highlight a row of shapes and copy and paste that.

And you end up with this:

Leave enough space between the stencil sections so you can cut the stencils apart if you wish. Be sure to leave enough space on the edges to have a sturdy edge for your stencil. You can add other shapes like this:

If you are using cardstock, which works just fine, you cut with normal cardstock cutting settings. However, if you have choosen to use Cricut Stencil Material, set your cutting settings like this:

and cut.

If you choose to cut them apart and use Cricut Stencil Material I do the following. Cut each one out with regular sissors. I then remove the backing from the sticky side of the cricut stencil material and stick the stencils, sticky side down, on wax paper. This is what you end up with.

Now, on to the canvas. Paint the canvas background any way you desire, just be sure the whole background is covered with acrylic paint. Only use acrylic paint because you are going to be layering the paint and you do not want the colors to mix as they would with other paints or mists.

Then, after this layer is completely dry, which usually takes about 5-10 minutes, begin using your stencils and adding color.

add as much color as you desire. don't worry about adding to much or too bright because you are going to subdue the color in a later step. When you are adding color it is better to use stencils with small openings. Be sure to load your sponge with paint then tap it several times on a clean space of paper or your pallate to get most of the paint off your sponge. If you use too much paint, it will seep under the stencil and you will not get a clear image.

Next you are going to use stencils with larger openings and color over most of your canvas with a thin layer of white paint, or another really light color. And you will end up with something like this. The cool thing about this is everyone's will look completely different.

You can display the canvas as is or you can add some die cuts like I did here to complete the canvas.

so easy, right?? You can do this and the look is lovely. The other kind of paint you can use is interior wall paint if you want parts of the canvas to match your wall color. It will just take longer to dry.

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,
Barbara

Friday's Layout

0
Hi friends!  Zenita (aka Scrappinwith'Z) here for ScrapBook Blessings Club to share with you Friday's layout. We will be using the Silhouette and Black Cat Cougar machines today.

First, I have my tip of the day for you.... When you have a souvenir you want to put on a layout, store it with the pictures, so you won't lose it. I had my runner's number for this layout and I can't find it!!! It will show up tomorrow, I'm sure.

Onto today's project...
I used Bazzill for my base paper and mounted my pics and the pattern paper on some solid cardstock that I had in my stash. The pattern paper is from me & my Big ideas-Mambi sheets. The pink gem ribbon is from Recollections. The Pretty in Pink was cut out with a 24" Black Cat Cougar Cutting Machine.
I mirrored the other side to balance out the second page and added my shoe. The shoe and 5K was cut with a Silhouette Machine. I used some baker's twine that I had in my stash to put in for shoe laces.
Here's the two pages together. I will add captions to the pictures later. This was my first race and I loved it!!
This is the layout that I made of my first 5K that I ran back in September 2013. I ran in honor of my friend Trish Vandeven who thankfully has won her fight!!
I hope you enjoyed today's project. If you have a question, please leave it in the comments, and a DT member will get back to you.  You can visit me to see more card/project ideas at Scrappin'With Z. Also, you can join up to our Facebook group: Scrapbook Blessings Club for more fun, games, inspiration, tips and techniques.
And as always, comments are appreciated. Thank you for stopping by and Have a blessed day!
Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,
~Zenita

Resist-able paper and Color Shine - Thursday Review

0
Hey kids!  Cindy back on the SBC blog today to share a product review.  I'm playing with resistable paper and Color Shine today.  This is my first time trying out both of these products.

TiP:  Keep a roll of paper towels handy.  It's going to get messy....LOL!

Supplies:
Heidi Swapp Color Shine - teal, primrose
Pink Paislee - Artisan Wings- resist-able paper (8x8)
Pink Paislee- Artisan Wings - resist butterflies
craft mat

Color Shine is cool!  Shake it until you hear the little ball--like a spray paint can.  Press the pump sprayer all the way down and use sweeping strokes across your paper/embellishment/ribbon.

It's easy to get carried away.  I think I may have used a bit too much.  Let it sit on your paper for a few seconds.  Then wipe away the extra with your paper towels.

Most of it wiped off...oops!  Live and learn, right?  LOL!  But look how pretty.  And it was so easy!

If you don't have any Color Shine you can also use markers, inks, paints and stains with the resist-able paper.

I colored this butterfly teal.  Too fun!  Make sure you use your craft mat. You can make your embellishments match your paper and project.  Too fun!

I created a card with the pink paper :-)  I'm sure I'll use the teal butterfly soon!!

I used a digi from Meljen's Designs.  They are one of our blog's fabulous sponsors :-)  This image is called Love is Sweet and it's free right now.  Go take a look!!

I hope I've inspired you to get out your Color Shine and resist-able paper and play :-)  Thanks for stopping by today!  If you are on facebook be sure and stop by the Scrapbook Blessings Club.  There is always something fun going on.

I hope you have a blessed day.

Birthday Party Decor!

0
So glad you could join us today. I have some great party decorations to share with you today. This is going to be a photo heavy post...there were several decorations and one really sweet picture of my daddy.

My sister and I surprised my dad with an 80th birthday party! He did not even know I was coming from Florida to North Carolina! I was so happy we were able to surprise him.

Tip: Be prepared for any type of wall situation. Since I was unsure of the conditions I was going to find with walls and where I needed to put the décor, I went prepared with tape, ribbon, and even some small nails. It ended up I just needed to use the packing tape.

I used the newer Cricut cartridge Create a Friend to do all the décor...this is absolutely the cutest cartridge I have ever seen! I would say definitely a must if you have a Cricut machine!

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the current challenge here at Scrapbook Blessings Club!

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,
